New Zealand 22 Day Tour - From Christchurch

Day 1 Pick Up Christchurch Airport
Day 2
Today you will have the day to explore Christchurch  situated in the heart of the City so plenty of time to explore the new city built after the devastation of the 2011 Earthquake.
Day 3
Your tour today takes you through the McKenzie Country and the stunning blue lakes of Tekapo and Pukaki. You will stop off  at Fairlie the Church of the Good Shepherd situated on the beautiful Lake Tekapo and one of the most photographed churches in the world (and proud to say I was christened here.....had to throw that in) It will be then onto the Hermitage and Mt Cook where you will spend the night in the local accommodation there.
Day 4
Today you will make your way through the stunning lakes of the  beautiful Waitaki Valley via Twizel to Oamaru and the  Moeraki Boulders which are unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach. It will be then onto Dunedin for your night's accommodation.
Day 5
We will then make our way out to the  Otago Peninsula  with  panoramic views and we will visit Larnach Castle a house built between 1871 and 1877 for William Larnach a famous Politician and Entrepreneaur of Colonial NZ.. It has incredible views of the Otago Peninsula surrounded by beautiful Gardens. We will then make our way out to the Peninsula to have a look at the Albatross Colony. If you wish to join a guided tour here. We will then make our way back to Duendin for you to spend some time in the city if you wish. 
Day 6
This morning you will make your way across to Te Anau and early in the afternoon join a 2-3 hour Guided tour through the magnificent Glow Worms caves of Te Anau. Your night's accommodation will be in Te Anau.
Day 7
Your tour today begins in Manapouri with a cruise across the picturesque Lake Manapouri followed by a trip across New Zealand’s most expensive road over Wilmot Pass, pausing along the way to experience the dense Fiordland rain forest and view of Doubtful Sound below. In Doubtful Sound you will board a purpose built catamaran for a three  hour cruise. You will also have a chance to visit the Manapouri underground Power Station. Your night's accommodation will be in Te Anau.
Day 8
Today we will make our way down to Queenstown situation on the beautiful Lake Wakatipu. You will have time to enjoy a Gondola Ride to the top of an amazing lookout before you  join a 3-4 hours cruise on the majestic Paddle Steamer TSS Earnslaw  up through Lake Wakatipu to  visit  Walter Peak High Country Farm for a guided farm visit & barbecue lunch. After your cruise we will make our way to historic  Arrowtown for your night's accommodation.
Day 9
This morning you will have a chance to have a look around Arrowtown before we make our way through the stunning lakes area of Wanaka & Hawera to Fox Glacier on the West Coast of the South Island.This is Glacier Country.
Your night's accommodation will be in Fox Glacier
Day 10
For those who wish, can walk up to the Glacier and then afterwards your tour will take you to one of the most stunning lakes in the South Island of New Zealand renound for it's stunning reflections.We will then make our way to Franz Josep Glacier for short rainforest walk to see Franz Joseph Glacier - this is a short walk that all can do and enjoy. It will then be onto Hokitika for your night' as accommodation.
Day 11
Today you will have time to spend in Hokitika having a look at some of the wonderful art galleries and of course this is the capital of Greenstone. This town has many talented Crafts people. Later I will take you out to the Hokitika Gorge for s stunning rainforest and waterfall walk. Your night's accommodation will be in Hokitika.
Day 12
Today your tour takes you on a  coastal drive with panoramic views to Punakaiki (pancake rocks ) and blowholes, where columns of water shoot skyward from rocks that resemble giant stacks of hotcakes. Some great photo opportunities here. It will then be on through Buller Gorge  and Murchsion to Nelson for your night's accommodation.
Day 13
Nelson is surrounded by the Wine country so if wine tastings are your choice then there are plenty of opportunities here. This is also near the Able Tasman Peninsula where you can get out on the bays by water taxi and soak up some of that stunning Tasman Peninsula scenery. There are many opportunities for short walks here. Your night's accommodation will be in Nelson.
Day 14
Today you will leave Nelson to travel to Picton to catch the Interislander Ferry to Wellington on the North Island of New ZealandYou will travel through the majestic Marlborough Sounds  with stunning scenery of all the small Islands and rural properties scattered on the way through the Charlotte Sound and Anikawa Islands. Your night's accommodation will be in Wellington.
Day 15
Today is a day to yourselves. There are a few options to do in Wellington to explore and also the Te Papa Museum an interactive national museum. There is also the Wellington Cable Car which has the best views of the city and harbour. Your night's accommodation will be in Wellington.
Day 16
Your tour today takes you to  Mt Ruapehu  in the vast Volcanic plateau of Tongaririo Natioanal Park  National Park. There is a delightful short walk on the way into the park to enjoy before taking you to your accommodation at the Chateau.
Day 17
Before leaving Mt Ruapehu if weather permits, you could take a  chairlift Ride to the top of Mt Ruapehu for stunning  outlooks over this incredible landscape before making our way to one of the best Geothermal areas of New Zealand to Orakei Korako where you catch a short ferry crossing to this spectacular Hidden Valley as it is called.  We will then make our way to Rotorua for your night's accommodation.
Day 18
Today in  Rotorua you will visit a living Maori Village of Whakarewarewa. You will enjoy traditional song & dance performances by the Te Pakira Performance Group and then afterwards lunch from a Hangi - traditional Maori way of cooking. In the afternoon you can spend at the Hot Pools should you wish or time to yourselves. Your night's accommodation will be in Rotorua.
Day 19
Today you will tour through some alternative roads passing through some stunning pastoral countryside and the Hydro Villages situated on the Waikato River. We will stop off at Arapuni Village and take a walk on the 152 metre long swing bridge that crosses the Waikato River with incredible views of the Arapuni Power Station below. We will then make our way to  Otorohonga to the Kiwi House and native Bird park for a close up of the National icon and join a tour to see the Kiwis being fed along with some native Parrots and have a look at a Tuatara. In the afternoon you will then make your way to Matamata   and if you are a fan of Middle-earth and Lord of The Rings then this tour is a must do. You will join a 2 Hr Guided tour taking you to the Movie set of Hobbiton and later your night will be spent at the Historic Okorarie Hotel in the heart of the Waikato.
Day 20
Today your tour will take you up through the Waikato Country to Hamilton the Garden City where you will have time to view these stunning gardens and enjoy a coffee or tea in the cafe set among the stunning surrounds. We will then make our way through to Auckland where you will spend a night before driving up to the Northland of New Zealand tomorrow.
Day 21
Today we will drive to Paihia the heart of the Bay of islands.  We will stop off at various attractions along the way. The afternoon will be spent at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, one of the most historic parts of New Zealand history. You can enjoy a guided tour and also some time strolling around these panoramic grounds with fabulous views across to the Bay of Islands. We will return to Paihia for your night's accommodation.
Day 22
Today you will join a Cruise to the Hole in The Rock on a catamaran and explore the beautiful Bay of Islands. You will see the historic Cape Brett lighthouse and pass through the majestic Hole in the Rock. You will visit Urupukapuka Island and visit the stunning shores and for those who wish to climb to the top you will be rewarded with spectacular views. I will pick you up later and take you up to Maiki Hill where famous flagstaff, cut down 4 times between 1844 and 1845 by one of the Maori Chiefs.  The views from the top are also spectacular. We will then make our way eventually back to Paihia via the car ferry  for your night's accommodation.
Day 23
Today we will make our way up to historic Kerikeri where in 1814 Reveren d Samuel Marsden arrived in the Bay of Islands and held New Zealand's first church service.

The Stone Store and the Mission House (Kemp House) built by Marsden’s early missionaries are New Zealand’s oldest standing European buildings. It is now known as the Mission Stonehouse Store and well worth a visit. We will then make our way to Wairere Boulders the only known basalt boulder valley world-wide with huge rocks in the middle of clay country. The rocks are over 2 million years old and there are some lovely short walks to explore this very unusual region in New Zealand. We will then make our way across to Opononi on the West Coast of New Zealand for your night's accommodation.

Day 24

Your tour leaves Opononi to travel through  some of the magnificent Kauri Trees of the North island as in Tane Mahuta and a stop off at the Kauri Museum also along the way. We will then make our way to your Auckland Airport accommodation for your flight out tomorrow.
